The Cresskill Police Department is commanded under Chief James Domville who oversee all aspects of the department.

 

‍Community Policing
The community policing division is run by Sgt. Franke.

 

Detective Bureau
The Cresskill Police Department's Detective Bureau consists of 3 full time detectives.  They investigate the department's major cases/arrests and also handle evidence recovery. The detectives have advanced training in narcotics, burglary, theft, etc...

Dispatch
The Cresskill Police Department is staffed by 4 full time dispatchers and numerous per diem dispatchers who answer your call for help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

When you call the Police Department, one of our dispatchers will most likely answer the phone.  Depending on the emergency you are reporting, they will dispatch the police, fire, and/or ambulance.

In addition to taking calls from the public, our dispatchers are responsible for assisting the police officers in D.M.V. look ups and communicating to other agencies during large scale incidents.

Firearms Unit

The Cresskill Police Department's Firearms Unit consists of 5 officers trained in the advance use of firearms.  They train the rest of the department in the use of the department's firearms.

In addition to training the officers in the use of the weapons, the officers also handle the public's requests to purchase firearms.

The officers in the firearms unit are also active shooter instructors and train the rest of the officers in the department in regard to the proper tactics and response to an active shooter situation.

 

Honor Guard Ceremonial Unit
The Cresskill Police Department Honor Guard Ceremonial Unit consists of 5 permanent members and 4 alternate members. We represent the department at numerous ceremonial events in Cresskill and the surrounding area.

Juvenile Bureau
The Cresskill Police Department Juvenile Bureau is staffed by Sgt. Birnie. His duties encompass all matters related to the juvenile residents/students of Cresskill.

Patrol Division
The Cresskill Police Department's Patrol Division consists of several Police Officers with ranks of Sgt. and Patrolman.  These officers work the department's 12 hour shifts which rotate around the clock (7AM-7PM & 7PM-7AM) including weekends and holidays. 

When you call the police department reporting an emergency, it is one of the officers from patrol who respond to handle your call for help.  

In addition to responding to emergencies, patrol also enforces motor vehicle law along with the traffic bureau.

Patrol is also responsible for effecting arrests during the course of their shift for a variety of crimes such as narcotics, assault, theft, etc...  

Our department has plenty of vacancy in our prisoner cell should you decide to come down for an unscheduled visit with one of our patrol officers.

Records Bureau
The Cresskill Police Department's Records Bureau serves the public with copies of police reports.

Should you need a copy of a police report, you need to come to police headquarters and fill out an O.P.R.A. (Open Public Records Act) form.

After you submit your form, Ptl. Solow will make a copy of your report to be released. Reports may be picked up in person at the Cresskill Police Department Headquarters. Traffic Bureau

The Cresskill Police Department's Traffic Bureau consists of 4 officers who have advanced training in traffic crash investigation.

The traffic bureau also deploys the department's speed sign/message board on borough streets to alert drivers who are traveling past the legal speed limit and of important traffic-related information.  Borough residents can also have their child's car seat installed by one of our certified car seat techs.

The officers in the traffic bureau enforce traffic laws by conducting numerous motor vehicle stops during the course of their shift and issuing traffic tickets for those violations.
