Police Department Information
The Cresskill Police Department is an Accredited Law Enforcement agency located behind the Borough Hall off of Dogwood Lane. We are staffed by 22 Officers and 4 full time dispatchers. Out of the 22 Officers, 2 are assigned to the detective bureau, 1 is assigned to the juvenile detective bureau, and 1 is assigned to the traffic bureau. There are 4 rotating road patrol squads each consisting of a road Sergeant and Patrolmen, supplemented by assistance from Lieutenants, Detectives, and Traffic.
We are an "in house" dispatched department, meaning when you call our desk at 201-568-1400, a dispatcher actually sitting in our headquarters, not a large call center out of town, will take your call. Our four full time dispatchers are also supplemented by per-diem dispatchers when the need arises. Our department also has class 1 Special Law Enforcement Officers who assist us with large events and crowd control.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. During power outages, the Police Department's emergency call volume increases dramatically as we respond to various situations around town.
If you have an emergency during a power outage please do call us.
However, if you are calling only to inquire as to when the power will be restored, just like you we do not know. When this is done, it prevents our dispatchers from answering calls with emergencies pending. You may call the power company or check the power companies website from a mobile device during a power outage to get an estimate when the outage will be restored, however we do not know when you will get your power back.
